I am a native of San Diego California and a Managing Intellectual Property Counsel and Part Leader at LG Energy Solutions, a leading battery and energy solutions company based in South Korea. I am responsible for managing our North American patent prosecution and assisting the Chief IP counsel with all facets of IP law, including providing strategic advice on patent prosecution, patent enforcement, freedom to operate, trademarks, trade secret, and IP licenses. Prior to joining LGES, I was a corporate counsel (patents) at Salesforce/Slack, where I oversaw multiple clouds for Salesforce including the Slack and web3 patent portfolios. I managed outside counsel, developed patent portfolio strategy, and worked with inventors to harvest patentable subject matter. I additionally assisted with open source matters and IP licensing matters for the company. Prior to Salesforce, I was in private practice and represented clients in a broad range of industries including blockchain/NFTs, video games, graphical user interfaces, machine learning, computer software and hardware, consumer electronics, semiconductors, and medical devices. I was most recently a patent prosecution attorney at Bookoff McAndrews in Washington D.C, where I advised fortune 100 companies and startup clients on patent prosecution and contested proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Prior to joining Bookoff McAndrews, my practice focused on IP litigation at Ropes and Gray. I am committed to DEI in the legal profession, including through my service as an officer on multiple affiliate boards in the Asian Pacific American/Vietnamese community and as vice-chair of the PTAB Bar Association Diversity Committee. I have further contributed over one-thousand two-hundred and fifty pro bono hours since 2014, in numerous areas including veterans’ disability, domestic violence, social security disability benefits, and human trafficking. In my spare time, I like playing strategy table-top and video games, coaching kids soccer, participating in church activities, watching movies and TV shows, and teaching my children (a 6 year old and twin 3 years olds) the ways of the force.
