About Andrew Leibold

Hello, my name is Andrew Leibold and I am an aerospace engineering student at Iowa State University. I have a deep investment in anything space-related. As for the aerospace industry, I have the most interest in thermodynamic systems such as aircraft engines and other propulsion types and I love astrodynamics. Any opportunity to learn more about anything is always good with me. I am actively seeking any employment under any company to learn more about my aerospace interests. Project Experience I work under one of my professors to minimize the boundary layer effects present in wind and water tunnels. I worked with a team to produce a nano drone with dimensions that were no larger than 10 cm^3. I was part of the electronics team that produced a prototype of a target and emitter mechanism for an an onboard IR emitter. I used teamwork in order to figure out how IR technology works and work through programming problems with IR libraries. Moreover, we worked on how we might connect external hardware to our drone given the limitations we had. In various aerospace classes, I have worked on projects such as designing a drone attached to a balloon and working on solidworks models of historical aircraft. Each of these projects taught me how to deal with team members with differing outlooks on the objectives of and effort involved with the project. Tutoring Experience I participate in leading students to success in Aerospace classes. It is a chance for me to brush up on my skills, teach, and learn as much as I can in the process of tutoring. I have used communication, leadership, and teamwork to tutor. A successful tutor takes a good leader and even better participants. Finally, tutoring has allowed me to better my community around me and give back to a community of active thinkers.
