Background
About Andrew Leitch
I have a strong background in architecture in particular in community regeneration and community building through my work as an architect and career within Creative Scotland. A keen observer of all things moving image and visual, easily distracted by the new and exciting. I studied at the Mackintosh School of Architecture in Glasgow and followed a career in architecture in Glasgow and London before becoming part of the Scottish Arts Council’s Lottery team primarily focussed on the delivery of capital infrastructure projects, in 1997 where I have remained to date and through the organisation’s evolution to become Creative Scotland. Currently Board Member of Spirit of Lanarkshire Wind Energy Co-op 2019- date. Spirit of Lanarkshire is a renewable energy co-operative. Spirit of Lanarkshire raised £2.7 million in 2013 and 2014 to purchase a stake in two wind farms in South Lanarkshire; Nutberry near Coalburn and West Browncastle near Strathaven. Both sites were developed by Falck Renewables Wind Ltd. The Co-op has 607 members. Trustee of the Awesome Foundation Glasgow 2018-date The Awesome Foundation awards £500, no-strings-attached mini-grants to cool projects that will make Glasgow, and the world, more Awesome! Remember: Awesome Glasgow gives just one £500 grant away every two months. Ex Board Member of the Glasgow Film Theatre 2008 to 2013. What began as a single screen cinema over 40 years ago has become Scotland’s most diverse and best publicly attended independent cinema in Scotland, with Glasgow Film Festival one of the top three film festivals in the UK. Glasgow Film is a national centre for film and moving image media where audiences and filmmakers experience and debate cultural practice and ideas through diverse, unique and quality programmes that transform the way people see the world, through film. https://glasgowfilm.org/ Leading on the delivery of the Own Art scheme across Scotland.
