Andrew is a highly accomplished business leader with over 35 years of experience in research translation from academia to industry, digital transformation, and industrial digitalisation programs. He has a strong academic background and has successfully combined this with hands-on expertise in various fields, including commercial aircraft design and development, manufacturing process design, LEAN performance improvement, and materials engineering. As the Executive Director of the Institute of Digital Engineering and Autonomous Systems, Andrew oversees two academic departments dedicated to the development and deployment of digital technologies into industry; The Virtual Engineering Centre and Digital Innovation Facility. Andrew leads a wide range of cross-sector industrial digital transformation projects worth over £45m, including the Liverpool City Region LCR4.0 project, which was included in the Financial Times Top 100 digital projects in Europe in 2018. Additionally, he provides technical leadership for LCR4.0 START, LCR4.0 Holistic, and C & W4.0. Andrew also provides leadership and strategic direction for the Meta-Liverpool project, a city-scale Metaverse platform for the Liverpool City Region. This innovative project aims to create a virtual replica of the city that can be used for a wide range of applications, including urban planning, tourism, and entertainment. Andrew's vision, strategic thinking, and technical expertise have been instrumental in driving the project forward and positioning Liverpool as a leader in the emerging field of metaverse technologies. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the field of materials engineering, Andrew was awarded the Gold Medal of the Institute of Materials Minerals and Mining in 2004 for his outstanding contribution to the development of the Airbus A380 Creep Forming process. His dedication to his work and his commitment to innovation have earned him numerous accolades throughout his career.
