About Andrew Long

I am a 2025 graduate of Duke University (BA, political science with minors in journalism and history) and a career storyteller who loves sports. At Duke, I served as The Chronicle's Sports Editor and covered a wide variety of varsity sports, including beats on football, men's soccer, men's lacrosse, and both women's and men's basketball. I have roughly 300 articles in varying styles, all of which can be found at the linked website in my bio, and was responsible for publishing and managing all articles and writers within the department. I spent the past two summers honing my craft in professional newsrooms as a political reporter at The Tampa Bay Times in 2023 and a business reporter at The Dallas Morning News in 2024. I was born and raised in Boise, Idaho. I have logged over 400 hours of volunteer work with the local chapter of the Agency for New Americans and my personal charity project Strides, which raised over for various Parkinson's organizations across the U.S. from 2018-2020. I am also fluent in conversational and written Spanish and have studied Portuguese at the university intermediate level. Hobbies and personal activities include running, cycling, downhill skiing, piano, cooking, bartending, international travel and supporting my beloved Liverpool FC.
