About Andrew Lowerre

As GIS Data Planner, I manage EPSB's spatial data. My major responsibilities include oversight of Infrastructure Planning's Data Team, student mapping, managing boundaries, map production, data analysis, and championing GIS through the division. I produce the annual division projections of over students which guides a budget of over $1.2 billion. I support our capital plan and planning work as well as supporting consultation with other boards for their many planning needs. I graduated from the MSc program in the School of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada, in 2020. I am particularly interested in connections between land-use modeling and land-use planning, the application of GIS data and analytical methods to planning issues, and the potential of 3D GIS in planning. Before reinventing myself as a planner, I worked as a medieval historian and archaeologist. My main interests were the archaeology and history of medieval English settlement and fortification, Domesday Book, GIS and spatial analysis. In my previous job for Historic England, I managed and contributed to excavation projects throughout England. I supported colleagues' use of an integrated digital recording system for excavation projects called Intrasis. I also advised colleagues within and without Historic England on the use of GIS and spatial analysis, and contributed to the review of research funding bids submitted to Historic England.
