About Andrew MacQueen

I am the Legal Director for Primark, an international retailer currently operating in 12 countries, that offers the latest fashion, beauty and homeware at the best value on the high street. My primary role is to manage legal and reputational risk across the Primark Group, in doing so my practice involves advising on a variety of matters including general commercial contracts, large scale technology transformation projects, data protection, intellectual property rights, litigation, competition law, advertising, product compliance issues (including product recalls), ethical issues and public relations matters. In addition to this, I attend our Top Co entity board meetings and advise accordingly, lead our Brexit Steering Committee, GDPR Steering Committee and Risk Committee whilst also advising other governance focussed programme boards. I manage the legal and compliance budget for the Primark Group and relationships with external advisors across the world. My team of lawyers and compliance professionals operate in numerous locations across the EU and USA. I pride myself on them operating cross functionally within the business and providing commercially pragmatic, strategic advice, that is legally and ethically sound. I am a strategic legal practitioner and work with the business to ensure that our governance framework and ongoing compliance programmes provide a platform that will allow our business to remain successful in the long term.
