About Andrew Mason

I’ve enjoyed a successful and rewarding career in the banking, IT, animal welfare and disability sectors. That is until 2018 when I was struck down by a mystery illness that turned out to be an autoimmune conditions. It meant the end of my corporate career. But as one door closed, another door opened. I had a vision of helping people tell and share their life stories through video and photography. I had recorded the life story of my partner's dad, Peter, who had terminal cancer. Her mum had died when my partner was just 8 years old and she was about to lose her dad. Peter opened up and shared stories his daughters had never heard before, including the funny story of his proposal to their mother. As good fortunate would have it, I shared my vision with someone I trained with called Kevin, who it turns out is an amazing photographer and videographer. Oh, and he used to be a journalist and editor, so he understands how to craft a story. This was the genesis of our production company, AnK InFocus. I am inspired by the stories we help people tell and share. These include stories of refugees and immigrants who have made valuable contributions to Australian society, of people with disability participating and contributing to their local communities, of young kids overcoming the grief and life changing event of a parent dying, of loving wives supporting their husbands with dementia, and finding solace through humour and the support of friends and the dementia community. These are stories of inspiration, and I am humbled when people and organisations trust us to help them tell and share their stories.
