An Electrical Maintenance Technician with 35+ years experience, based at University Hospital Southampton. I form part of a large multi-disciplinary team of approximately 50 staff across various disciplines.Current duties include work on HV/LV distribution, 11kV step-down transformers, 3Φ 400V ac circuits, 230V ac final distribution circuits, lighting and emergency lighting, back-up power systems (Generators/UPS), medical IT power supplies (IPS), analysing energy and 3Φ power quality, 24V dc nurse-call systems, fire alarms, BMS controls. Working with contractors to deliver new works, routine maintenance and repairs, alteration and refurbishment work. Liaison with project managers on technical, safety and security matters. Electrical inspection and test, reading and interpreting electrical control drawings, fault finding, knowledge of technical, regulatory and industry best practice of electrical systems. I have a flexible approach to my work, depending on the needs of the team and I am always keen to develop my skill-set and knowledge.AP HV/LV duties include the preparation of safety documentation for highly complex switching procedures. The issue and cancellation of Permits to Work and recording all operations in the LV site Logbook.
