Background
About Andrew Miehs
With 25+ years of experience in systems engineering and infrastructure operations, I specialise in building and scaling high-availability systems that power global-scale platforms. Over the past decade at Amazon Web Services, I’ve led the architecture and development of one of AWS's network safety systems — used across 30+ regions and 100+ datacenters. I’m passionate about automation, incident prevention, and building self-healing systems. My work has enabled intelligent capacity management and reduced manual intervention by hundreds of engineer-hours daily. I hold a U.S. patent for a network monitoring service that transformed how AWS handles automated changes in production. Beyond the tech, I’m deeply committed to mentorship, having conducted 200+ interviews and supported the growth and promotion of engineers across levels. Whether it’s scaling infrastructure, improving MTTR, or bridging dev and network ops — I bring strategic leadership and hands-on expertise to every project.
