About Andrew Mota

I am a recent graduate from New York University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. At my university, I served as a Collegiate Research Initiative fellow and research assistant at the university's Conceptual Development and Social Cognition Lab, where I studied the development of infants' perceptions of race. I have developed substantial proficiency using Excel to manage the recruitment of over 200 participants. On behalf of my lab, I submitted a proposal for the New York University Dean's Undergraduate Research Fund and was awarded funding for research expenses and paying participants. Additionally, funding was used for the synthesis of a collaborative presentation, given at the Dean's Undergraduate Research Conference. I possess a deep and broad familiarity with the STEM field, having participated in the LANG Science Program at the American Museum of Natural History from 2012 until my high school graduation in 2020. I contributed to a variety of efforts and adapted to skillsets within different scientific fields, such anthropology, astronomy, and landscape ecology. For example, in 2018, I collaborated with astrophysicists who aimed to visualize data from a newly discovered cluster of stars known as Gaia 1. Using Python and a program known as Partiview, I constructed an interactive viewing experience that could be projected within the Hayden Planetarium. Due to my deep-rooted and diverse experiences, I am a considerable candidate for positions that require commitment and a quickly adaptable mindset.
