About Andrew Ohnstad

Architecture exists at the intersection of two elliptical orbits: one made by the bright star of Science, the other by the dark star of Philosophy. I like to dip my toe in that intersection. Depending on the project, I can lean one way or the other; though my preference is toward philosophy. I wear two hats. In one role I am the co-owner of a small IT contracting company. We connect top notch IT System Engineers, Architects, Administrators, Software Developers, and Project Mangers with Federal Government programs that need their talents. Our company puts people first, and fosters a strong family-style relationship with and between our employees. Our goal is to "Wow!" the customer, and we seek out those who make it happen. Before going "corporate," I'm a general IT theorist, primarily focusing on Infrastructure and Software Systems engineering. I can code in multiple languages, but my heart isn't in that. Where I live is helping software developers recognize that their components and subsystems are part of a larger whole. That their decisions have enterprise-level implications. Then I help get their inputs and outputs in and out of their software by helping to build infrastructures; physical, cloud, hybrid - compute, network, storage. Along the way, I use my leadership and communications skills to facilitate the exchanges between engineers and business owners. I'm a people person. I consider myself adept at business and corporate leadership; I can talk strategy and budget with leaders, and then work with teams to execute. I like to look for problems, and then help solve them.
