About Andrew Ong

As a mechanical engineer with a passion for product development and entrepreneurship, my engineering story starts in high school, where I was fortunate enough to work on several challenging projects that fueled my curiosity and drive for innovation + they were super cool. For instance, one of my first hands-on experiences with engineering was working on a Thrust Vector Control (TVC) gimbal for an advanced model rocket. More recently, I joined the Glitch Battlebot team, a thrilling project that pushes the boundaries of engineering in combat robotics, which stars in the HBO MAX show: Battlebots (Seasons 6 & 7). This experience has allowed me to explore cutting-edge technologies while enhancing my design, manufacturing, and interpersonal skills. In addition to the Battlebot endeavor, I've been working with Berkeley's STAR Rocketry team developing airbrakes for the International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC). This challenge has broadened my perspective on aerodynamics and inspired me to find solutions to improve altitude control on a high-powered rocket As I strive to build a successful career in the future, I'm actively seeking internships to gain valuable exposure and further develop my expertise. Collaborating with industry professionals and contributing to fun projects/work, I do look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.
