Background
About Andrew Outram
Since retiring from Turner & Townsend in December 2022, I have provided strategic project consultancy services and Non Executive Director support to a variety of organisations in areas of personal and professional interest. I serve as a Board Governor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and as Strategic Adviser to the Court of Edinburgh Napier University covering their campus redevelopment plan. Additionally, I am an Advisory Panel Member for the Linen Hall Library in Belfast, overseeing the delivery of their new Political Collection building. I recently completed a consultancy role for the Citizens Theatre Glasgow, advising the Project Board on the final stages of its redevelopment and refurbishment. I have also provided services to the University of Glasgow, leading a contractor framework procurement exercise and was re-engaged by Turner & Townsend to provide short term Project Director support for their commission at the Dunard Centre, a major international concert venue in Edinburgh. Turner & Townsend also engaged me to lead the development of training programmes for young professionals. Beyond these roles, I provided part-time business advisory support to HD Property Consultants, helping shape their strategic growth and governance. I have held senior leadership and Board level roles with responsibility for business performance, governance, and strategic direction, for example at T&T and Mackenzies, I was directly responsible for business operations across Scotland and Northern Ireland. As such I understand and appreciate business needs, expectations for governance and operational performance, and recognise the positive impact the non exec role can bring to organisations. My role as Chair of Built Environment – Smarter Transformation (BE-ST) provided direct experience of a senior non-exec role, and my involvement with KCSC gave me valuable insights into the unique non-exec requirements of operating in a charitable environment. My career is underpinned by significant leadership roles on major project management commissions. Notable roles include Project Director to the City Legacy Consortium for the delivery of the 2014 Commonwealth Games Athletes Village, Project Director for the OVO Arena at the Scottish Event Campus, and Project Director for The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA). Beyond these projects, I have managed delivery of many commercial office developments, retail centres, and higher education facilities across Scotland, the UK, and Europe, including retail Centres in Milan, Italy, and County Laois, Ireland.
