About Andrew Paves

I am a clinical psychologist licensed in the state of Washington. I have a generalist training background, which has suited me well in my current work in primary care settings. My clinical work includes providing individual and group psychotherapy, assessment, and consultation in collaboration with interdisciplinary treatment teams. I have expertise in working with individuals struggling with healthy behavior change (e.g, alcohol/substance use, exercise), adjusting to and managing medical conditions, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, and other life stressors. I have an extensive background in delivering and providing supervision in Motivational Interviewing. I have also received supervised training in various evidence-supported treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for insomnia, CBT for chronic pain, Behavioral Activation for depression, Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, and mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches. My broader mission in the field is to improve access to care and provide culturally relevant, evidence-based treatment to underserved populations. To that end, I enjoy implementing quality improvement projects to ensure patients are receiving the best possible care. I previously served as the Communications Chair of the Asian American Psychological Association, and was also a Student Representative for its Division on Filipino Americans. I continue to seek opportunities to help educate the public and reduce stigma towards psychological treatment. Outside of work, I am a proud 2nd generation Filipino American, Washington native, and new father. I enjoy training and coaching mixed martial arts, butchering songs on karaoke, dancing, consuming all things Marvel/DC Comics, rooting for our Seattle teams (Welcome NHL!), making obscure pop culture references, and of course quality time with my growing family.
