Background

About Andrew Rolfe

I have 28 years experience working as a geologist mainly in Australia and the United Kingdom (UK) and, since January 2020, Germany. I have extensive experience in contaminated land assessment including project managing detailed soil/groundwater investigations and remediation projects for a wide variety of clients.Since 2005, I have focused mainly on the coordination of large multi-disciplinary site investigation and remediation projects involving risk-based investigation, pilot trials, developing management/remediation strategies and the preparation of Remediation Action Plans (RAPs)/Remedial Designs for large and complex soil and groundwater remediation projects. This has included preparing several Feasibility Studies which required the evaluation of various remedial technologies (soil and groundwater) and selection of the most cost-effective and sustainable solution. These projects have included a range of industrial facilities including former chemical (explosives and pesticides), gasworks, manufacturing, automotive and oil refinery industries in Australia/UK and mainly military bases in Germany.Over the last 4 years I have managed detailed PFAS site investigations and related PFAS groundwater pilot trial and PFAS soil stabilization trials (both successful) and prepared a Remedial Design for a PFAS groundwater extraction and treatment system.
