Now 25 years into the helicopter industry, I’ve been able to achieve a well diversified breadth of experience in both tasks and places. A lot of my years have been in Alaska, dealing with weather, distances, lack of fueling sites, remote camps and so much more. Alaska gave me the opportunity to experience landing on boats and platforms, slinging to and from boats and platforms, tagging bear and moose, capturing ducks and geese. Also less exciting things such as heliskiing, one-skid landings, toe-ins, and power line construction and maintenance. The last several years have been spent in what is known as “the lower 48”, primarily in fire suppression, more often than not on rappel contracts flying Bell 205’s.
