About Andrew Ruff

I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (a huge Flamengo fan), and moved to San Diego when I was 16 years old. I have two kiddos, my boy is 15 and my little girl is a little over 1. yes, we decided to start over. I enjoy long runs and watching the best soccer team play, Flamengo, did I mention that already? I joined the Army a month shy of my 20th birthday and had an incredible career, including residing in Hawaii, Germany, and Korea. During my time in the military, I had the chance to participate in and lead multiple projects, including establishing a 250-bed hospital at Century Link, Seattle, at the height of the pandemic. Not sure because I am a foreigner-born American or because I was raised in environments with multiple cultures and ethnicities, but I gained a passion for working with people from various backgrounds, cultures, and experiences and how to coalesce them together towards a common goal. I take any opportunity that appears to practice my Portuguese and Spanish, and really enjoy the smile on people when they have a chance to speak their first language. I have recently earned my project management professional certification, but I am not stopping there, I am currently enrolled in lean six sigma and data analyst courses, those topics aren't only relevant to today's world, but I actually enjoy all the statistics involved (don't judge me). I want to combine my hard skills earned with the soft skills I acquired in the military and make a difference in any team I have the chance to join.
