About Andrew Schaffer

When I was in High School, I competed in FIRST Robotics. I was a part of the team, 4143, from fall of 2021 to spring of 2023. Throughout my time in the program, I learned countless skills. I was taught how the design process works when making new components. We followed the process of creating a list of goals, then deciding what goals needed to be met, then designing for those goals. During my time in robotics, I helped design many moving mechanisms. Those included a rotating joint for the 2022 climbing challenge, a modified elevator, for 2023 robot, and even redesigning a pickup for the 2023 robot after the first two competitions. I also learned how to use cam for CNC machining, how to operate a CNC mill, and even how wiring works on the robot. MY time at robotics allowed me to sharpen my designing skills, but also allowed me to learn how to do countless other things that are good to know.
