About Andrew Semotiuk

From thornscrub ecosystem modelling to molecular pathways, I appreciate each mentor I met along the way of my academic journey. With a mix of passed-down wisdom and hands-on experience in hand, I ventured into the consulting world. I was proud to help botanical startups launch (some of which did very well in their rounds of funding). But with the pandemic at full strength, I transitioned to teaching kids classes online along with my own children. We created backyard botany courses, Mister Rogers craft clubs, pizza geometry classes, Pokémon reading sessions, Snap circuits clubs and others. I found the father-child pandemic business to make for fond memories, but activities on a screen can't replace frolicking with other children. So with kids in school, I took on a new model – that of the research ecosystem. As opposed to being just an observer of ecosystems, in this type of system, I could play an active part. So, I began working to promote ideal partnerships for labs. Let us see what innovations come of it!
