About Andrew Theen

I'm an Oregon-based journalist with extensive experience in print, radio and online journalism. I started my journalism career at Oregon Public Broadcasting in 2006. I worked as a reporter and editor for The Oregonian/OregonLive from 2012-2023. I developed expertise on a variety of beats, ranging from suburban politics to Portland City Hall to higher education and transportation. I started a weekly news podcast in 2019 and hosted and edited roughly 200 episodes. As podcasts editor, I helped the newspaper grow its podcast network. I started a new role in April 2023 at OPB as politics editor. Prior to The Oregonian, my work appeared in The Washington Post, Bloomberg, NPR, McClatchy newspapers, DIME magazine and was distributed nationwide through Bloomberg's News Service and the Associated Press. I grew up in Southern Oregon but have called the metro area home since 2006. I live in the Portland area with my wife and daughters.
