Background
About Andrew Toth
There is too much to include here so let's TL;DR with my resume intro: A proven, proactive, and empathetic leader of software and solutions engineering organizations, in both Engineering and Management roles, offering well-seasoned qualifications for building, developing, and growing highly motivated, productive, and collaborative engineering teams focused on developing and delivering quality software, solutions, and architectures. and an Adjunct Professor guiding the next generation of IT professionals. Now for the rest of the story: I was bitten by the coding bug early in life, writing my first bit of code on the apple II system with Logo producing amazing graphics (at least in the eyes of a second grader). From there I consumed all I could get my hands on in the computer world, in the time before the internet was a ubiquitous thing. After getting my hands on a TRS-80 replete with an amazing 4K of RAM (because who needs more than that, right?), I was off to the races learning to code Basic and really cementing my passion for computers and software development. It has been many.many years since those fateful first experiences and I've had the privilege to explore many avenues within the world of software, from writing large software codebases for simulation systems, orchestration systems, and large deployed marine vessels (with presidential names), to smaller web projects, testing tools, and other various projects. Each experience has allowed me to grow technically and personally. Fast forward to today and I've transitioned from hands-on technical leadership roles into people/org management roles (feel free to reach out and ask me why). I lean on my core values of communication, collaboration, equity, and meritocracy (which leads to mutual trust) to guide my leadership style. Over the years I've received very positive feedback on my people first management and leadership style which has helped my teams flourish in the many varied conditions the industry has evolved through. I haven't hung up my technical spurs either. On top of top-notch people and org management, I still provide a full set of technical contributions to the world. Currently you'll also find me working with industry partners and communities to define architectures, plan technical work streams, define engineering processes, and integrate distributed systems. I'm also educating and coaching the next generation of developers and IT professionals. Please reach out if you want to know more about me (and there is a lot more to share but I've now run out of characters to use).
