About Andrew Tran
I’m a software engineer with a non-traditional background in exercise science and physical therapy. During my gap year before grad school I explored a variety of career paths, and that’s when I learned about software development. After a ton of deliberation, I withdrew from grad school and haven’t looked back! Today I work on cloud-based solutions at Gentex. In particular I support development of our IoT and smart home products such as Place (smart smoke detector), and HomeLink (smart home automation from your car). As a cloud developer, I work primarily with AWS tools to deploy scalable and resilient infrastructure to support our emedded devices, as well as write robust APIs to feed our mobile and web apps. In my time outside of work, I enjoy working out and taking my dog to new parks and trails.
