About Andrew Trecha

I’m a web developer with 20+ years of experience with a current focus on WordPress and the front end. I’ve the ability to create fully functioning, responsive websites based on custom themes and templates, or I’ve the ability to modify and/or enhance existing sites based on custom, free, or paid for WordPress themes. I’ve enough PHP and MySQL knowledge in order to know my way around the WordPress environment, but I’m not a PHP programmer and have, when needed, leveraged the use of individuals with that expertise. I’ve a solid understanding of graphic design and typographic concepts and have the ability to work from provided designs and/or wireframes, or I’m just as comfortable rapid prototyping in the browser based on suggestions or site/design examples. I have some experience with print design as well, having designed flyers, brochures, and CD/Album covers. Based on my experience, I’m great at explaining technical details to non-technical people, and to communicate technical requirements needed for more advanced functionality to programmers, and even provide HTML and CSS markup if needed. I’ve experience with all aspects of development including obtaining domain names, setting up DNS, setting up hosting and dev, staging, and production environments, obtaining Google analytics code or API keys from the Google developers console. I’m comfortable with Windows, but prefer MacOS. I use Docksal/Docker for my local development LAMP stack and Atom as my preferred code/text editor, and Chrome and Firefox Developer Edition dev tools. I’m proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite, Google Production Suite, and Microsoft Office, as well as Sketch. For project management, I’m familiar with Jira, Pivotal Tracker, and Basecamp. I’m comfortable with the MacOS CLI/Terminal and various build tools used for modern web development workflows. I’ve used, or am familiar with Bootstrap, Foundation, UIKit, Bulma, Pure, frontend CSS frameworks, and how to leverage only what’s needed. I’m also comfortable with creating fully custom SCSS/CSS and forgoing the use of a framework at all. I have experience creating and managing Git repositories.
