About Andrew Vanhausen

I think music was the first thing I learned to do well. I was pretty poor at it at first, but I get better, slowly but continually, for nearly 40 years now. Now, I transcribe Beethoven, Yes, and Frank Zappa. For fun. I think my most primary skill is learning. I was a really bad artist as a child, good at math and sciences, and a book reader. I had to learn all my artistic skills, and that has a certain advantage over a natural talent, I had to work to get where I was. Improving was just more of the same.Professionally, I added audio and video editing to my music skills, and graphics and web, then marketing and business (What is media and advertising for, anyway? More than pretty pictures, and fancy lettering) I've managed some truly gargantuan projects, with a team and working solo, such as 500 page technical manuals and catalogs. I've built a dynamic sales database from raw numbers, an interactive font library, and created interior design art to specification. I've read entire libraries of books, short focus and attention span and are not issues of mine. Creative solutions and lateral thinking are.I've done design with an audience of bosses or customers guiding design decisions over my shoulder. I can work in a team; as a leader, a lieutenant, an equal member, one of the grunt troops, or out on my own. I think about what I'm doing, watch for patterns and anomalies, consider the guy before and after me in the process.Along with my media skills, I've done quite a bit of construction, carpentry, minor plumbing and electrical. painting & wallpaper, used all sorts of power tools. Library and warehouse management. I have some significant knowledge of architecture, and masonry, art and history in general. Portfolio - http://avanhausen.wixsite.com/vanhausen
