About Andrew Walsh

Sport Experience I started studying Sport Science at Edith Cowan University in 2007. After completing my undergraduate degree, I complete a Masters research degree which i focused on analysing the American and Australian development pathways from tee ball to baseball and softball and its implications on skill development. In my PhD, I analysed how climbers perceive their environment and how that drives their decisions, so to help train the next generation of athletes. This led to me developing skills in eye tracking and both 2D and 3D motion capture. Project Management Since 2013, I have worked on and managed over 10 research projects. I managed teams ranging from 3 to 10 people, both domestically and internationally. I have worked with the police, ambulance officers, allied health professionals, elite junior athletes, as well as experienced rock climbers. These projects have built my expertise especially in the fields of data analytics, interviewing/transcribing, eye tracking, 3D motion capture and 2D motion analysis. These projects have lead to publications in peer-reviewed journals. I have presented at numerous large scientific conferences ranging from Australasian Skill Acquisition Network, National Strength and Conditioning Association, to the European College of Sport Science. Teaching Experience I have tutored and lectured Medical and Health Science undergraduate units at Edith Cowan University, specifically on anatomy and how we move. I have mentored new postgraduate students and was on the post-graduate student board. I helped set up and implement numerous programs tackling issues faced by post-graduate students.
