About Andrew Yates

My current role focuses upon developing the strategy to support innovation within the department and to interface with internal departments and external collaborators and to facilitate the culture of innovation. A key aspect to the role are the interfaces with key academic relationships and building the collaborations. I provide regional support to the neurosciences and immunology partnering teams. Previous roles have encompassed line management, scientific leadership and strategic development of the preformulation and formulation of biological molecules for the entire UCB pipeline. The preformulation teams’ develop stable formulations and provide support for biological molecules for the duration of the development program (from preclinical to commercial) and is able to focus upon early phase (fast to PoC) and late phase formulations (focus upon Ph. and commercial). The formulation team is responsible for the establishment and manufacture of drug product at cGMP manufacturing sites (internal and external) for stability through to clinical Phase I and II studies. The team also provides documentation and support for transfer to supply Ph and commercial DP.
