About Andrew Yee

As a passionate mental health advocate, I am dedicated to increasing accessibility to mental health care and breaking the stigma surrounding mental illness. With extensive experience in both the County of Santa Clara Health System as a Mental Health Peer Support Worker and as a Peer Mentor & Community Outreach Coordinator at NAMI Santa Clara, I've honed my ability to connect with and support individuals navigating their mental health journeys. In my role at the County of Santa Clara’s Behavioral Health Services Department, I have focused on early intervention and prevention services, providing essential support and wellness/recovery resources to peers, their families, and caregivers. I have proudly contributed to our community's mental health education and awareness by offering evidence-based classes on mental health, suicide prevention, and recovery. At NAMI Santa Clara, I have had the privilege of mentoring individuals recently discharged from inpatient psychiatric facilities, offering guidance and support during their transition back into daily life. Through sharing my lived experience, I've presented NAMI's services at local hospitals, fostering understanding and empathy while connecting people to the help they need. As a forward-thinker, I am excited about the potential of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionize mental health care. I believe AI can help fill gaps in access to mental health services and assist people in their recovery journey, providing support and resources in ways we could have only imagined before. By embracing innovation, we can work together to ensure that mental health care becomes truly accessible to all. My mission is to use my skills and experiences to promote mental health awareness and harness the power of technology to make mental health care accessible to all. I am committed to creating a world where everyone feels empowered to take control of their mental health journey and live a fulfilling life.
