Background

About Andrey Vlasenko

I am a Senior Data Scientist and Developer with over 18 years of experience in artificial intelligence, high-performance computing (HPC), and data-driven decision-making. My academic foundation includes a Ph.D. in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Heidelberg and an MSc in Applied Physics and Mathematics from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Throughout my career, I have led projects at renowned institutions such as Helmholtz Zentrum Hereon and Deutsches Klimarechenzentrum, focusing on AI-driven solutions for climate modeling, atmospheric chemistry, and operational cost reduction. A key achievement includes developing a neural network for air quality forecasting in Europe, achieving a 700-fold reduction in operational costs while improving model accuracy. My technical expertise spans: AI & Machine Learning: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn Programming: Python, Fortran, C/C++, Matlab HPC Tools: OpenMPI, SLURM, CUDA Big Data Analytics: Climate time-series analysis, anomaly detection, predictive modeling I thrive on solving complex problems and have a strong track record of delivering scalable, impactful solutions. My passion lies in harnessing the power of AI and data science to drive innovation, whether in sustainability, medical technology, or cutting-edge research. In addition to my technical skills, I value teamwork, adaptability, and continuous learning. Outside work, I enjoy piloting Cessna airplanes and writing short articles.
