About Andriy Gryshchenko

Expertise: formulation, application, design of processes, process control, synthesis and chemical modification, QA, QC, testing, chemical analysis, analytical method development, R&D for developing products from scratch and improving existing ones. My toolbox: statistical data analysis and design of experiment (DoE), Lean Six Sigma methodology, old textbooks of Analytical, Physical, and Organic Chemistry, literature and patent review, prioritization of project activities. What drives me: • “play” with components, molecules, functionalities like with Lego blocks; • apply data analysis to make the invisible apparent; • combine my ideas with the knowledge of others to generate solutions that an individual mind never can do; • enjoy manual labor; • technical communication that delivers a few simple messages; • solve the drama of conflicting product features: improving performance while reducing side effects. Achievements: • an additive for polyurethane coating, which matches a much more expensive product from a big corporation; • two additives for wood stains to extend open time; • a bio-based humectant that beats in price and performances a not bio-based commercial alternative; • synthesis and fabrication of polymeric films for solid-phase extraction of environmental contaminants; • direct detection of phenols and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons adsorbed on solid films with optical and mass spectrometry; • participated in the development of a product line based on palm oils; • QA project about estimation of uncertainty of SOPs for QC of food in ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
