I have 45 years experience of railway engineering projects across a wide and varied range of companies within the UK railway industry. These include Research and Development, Train / Locomotive Manufacture, Train Operator and Railway Consultancy, with the last 13 years at Virgin Trains initially within the Major Contracts Group, moving on to Fleet, Business Development and now Virgin Rail Projects. During this period, Virgin have purchased 53 Class 390,140 mph titling trains for the West Coast Mainline Franchise. I have had responsibility for ensuring the Class 390 meets the engineering, testing and acceptance requirements of the Train Service Agreement Specification between Virgin Trains and Alstom the train manufacture. Currently I am Head of Virgin Rail Projects Ltd contracted by the DfT to deliver 4 new class 390 trains and 62 additional cars to lengthen the existing fleet.
