About Andy Baughan

High Performance Computing (HPC) Systems Developer with a passion for problem-solving, user-centred support and continuous development. I began my journey in the helpdesk, where I gained a solid foundation in user support and troubleshooting before progressing through IT Support and Data Centre roles. I'm now working in the Research and Specialist Computing Service at the University of East Anglia, providing bespoke solutions to research projects at the institution. My role focuses on providing stable, performant and secure platforms to enable world-class research and support impactful scientific discovery. With skills in Linux, system administration, automation, scripting (shell & Python), Slurm, containerization, scientific software compilation/installation and server hosting, I’m dedicated to helping researchers optimize their workflows and make efficient use of HPC resources. I’m driven by a strong commitment to continuous self-development and expansion of my technical knowledge, as demonstrated by my career progression. I thrive both in collaborative team settings and when working independently to achieve project goals.
