When I left full time practice my plan was to step away from the practice of law but continue to help a number of my existing clients and contacts in the capacity of a property/legal consultant utilising the experience and contacts I have gathered after 37 years in the business. I am pleased to say that has worked out well over the last year and I have been able to help clients source deals, funds for those deals and to negotiate to an advanced stage.There has been a gap in the plan however in the absence of an associated legal practice who I can work closely with and be a part of. I am delighted to say that with effect from 1/1/15 that gap will be filled when I join Gilson Gray as a consultant. They are a young firm but they apply traditional standards of client care,while applying a modern business model,so will be a great fit for my client and contact base.They are also the largest full service law firm to launch in the recent history of the legal sector with offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow. I will also continue to act as a contact between the client and the lawyer, to supervise things and keep the deals moving along. A couple of my clients have asked me to join them as a non-executive director and another, who designs software for the financial services industry, has asked me to help them with a client care and entertainment programme and also open a few doors in Scotland for their product.
