26 years of experience as a Major Projects leader, a Civil and Geotechnical Engineer, and a divisional director of engineering organisations. Currently: Principal (owner), Aurecon New Zealand Previously: Head of Ground Engineering, New Zealand Technical Delivery Lead, Hinkley Point C, UK Delivery Director, Doha Metro Gold Line, Qatar Project Manager, Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon, UK Head of Ground Engineering Africa, South Africa In 2020 I joined Aurecon, where I lead the Ground & Underground Engineering Practice across New Zealand. I also deliver multidisciplinary Major Projects as a Technical Director and Design Manager. My experience includes some of the world's largest construction projects in some of the most challenging environments. My abilities in engineering design and construction management allows me to steer these projects to both technical and commercial success. PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Project Director and Project Manager roles in many major construction schemes in the UK, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Leading multi-disciplinary delivery for designers, constructors and client organisations in transport, buildings and power sectors; delivering procurement, management, design and construction services in complex environments with local and international partners. TECHNICAL: Today I lead project delivery in the fullest sense, from the commercial client roles, to managing design houses and construction teams. Throughout these leadership positions I maintain my technical expertise as a Geotechnical and Heavy Civils Engineer, alongside an understanding of all other aspects of my team's delivery: including architecture, structures, MEP, high security systems and tunnels. PROFESSIONAL: Fellow of ICE, UK Fellow of SAICE, South Africa Fellow of Geology Society, UK Chartered Member of Engineers, New Zealand Chartered Engineer in the UK Professionally Registered Engineer (PREng) in South Africa BUSINESS MANAGEMENT: Winning work, business management and setting up business in new territories. I have a proven track record in building long term businesses that are fit to deliver infrastructure mega-projects around the world. Experience in this field includes everything from commercial business planning, the development of new clients, recruitment and team building to the creation of the technical and quality assurance systems needed to safeguard the ongoing delivery of work in frontier regions.
