About Andy Cochran

I'm a film and TV writer ("Teen Wolf," Adult World), member of the WGA and alumnus of the Walt Disney Motion Picture Writer's Fellowship. And I'm in the process of getting back to what I love most: writing, movies, and storytelling. It's been a long road. As many of you know, a few years ago I lost Dillon, my boyfriend of many years. I’ve always tried never to open up or reveal anything personal in this town because I’ve found there are those who like to use it to tear you down. As I learned after getting fired off my Hulu pilot for having a panic attack on a Zoom and being unable to find my notes during another call, nobody cuts you any slack for personal issues anyway. But at this point I don’t know how not to open up about it. In the wake of Dillon’s unexpected death I struggled with intense depression, PTSD and crippling anxiety/panic attacks. I left LA and moved to Austin because I just couldn’t deal with it. The thing is, as hard and painful as the experience was, it also taught me a lot about myself and reaffirmed my commitment to fighting the good fight and living a life that when I'm old I can look back on with pride. A life lived according to core values- like integrity, curiosity, kindness, equality, and helping others. With time to process and come to terms with everything, I'm finally at peace with it all, on the mend, back in LA, and working to rebuild my life- doing what I love. In addition to recently turning in a draft of a movie for Miky Lee, the Oscar-winning producer of Parasite, I've developed an indie feature I’m going to be directing this year. For the first time in a very long time, I'm happy, I'm excited to wake up every morning, and I see the path forward.
