About Andy Fontaine

In the years following high school, I found full-time employment at a local machine shop in Saskatoon. Having had no previous experience in the field, I progressed from a labourer position to that of a CNC machine operator. Although it was interesting work, I knew it was something I did not want to do for the rest of my life. Eventually I decided to go to the U of S to complete my B.Sc. in Physics. During the summer following graduation, I had the opportunity to work on summer research which exposed me to the world of digital signal processing, and I was fascinated. When the research concluded, I returned to the machine shop unable to find work related to my education. I worked there for a few more years until I decided to return to the U of S, where I enrolled in the Industry Oriented Master's program offered by the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
