About Andy Gibson

With over 14 years of experience in rugby coaching and sports management, I am a leader in my field, delivering high-quality results and outcomes for both players and organizations. Currently, I am the Global Sport Programs Coordinator at the University of Wollongong, where I develop and implement recruitment strategies for the Global Sport Program, a unique initiative that offers talented athletes the opportunity to pursue both academic and sporting excellence. I am also the Head Coach & Academy Manager of the UOW Crusaders Global Rugby Program, a partnership between the University of Wollongong and the Crusaders, the most successful rugby club in the world. In this role, I design and coach the program in line with Crusaders standards and best practice, liaise with professional level recruiters, manage player mentorship, welfare and performance, provide leadership to program staff and contractors, and implement strategic initiatives for program enhancement. I have built and cultivated external and international relationships with schools, clubs, non-profit organizations, and national unions, creating pathways and opportunities for rugby development and exchange. My coaching philosophy is based on building independent athletes, creating opportunities for learning and growth, and fostering a love for the game.
