About Andy Gonzalez

Working at a distribution center at UPS has fine tuned my multi-tasking and communication skills. I have to instill work ethic and service to my workers in order to keep the building running. Which ensures that thousands of packages arrive to their destinations on time each day. I have had to train new hires in safety standards daily in order to prevent the career ending injuries I have seen here (anything as small as tripping to bigger things like broken bones). I have also given them a sense of urgency to always have them learning and taking on new responsibilities to make my job slightly easier. My specialty so far has been training new hires, giving them an overall goal of loading 400 packages per hour, daily and weekly milestones to get them from 50 packages to 400 packages per hour. So far the biggest challenges I have seen are keeping people from quitting. Others are keeping people on task and coming in early each day since it's a tough job that pays minimum wage. So far I have only had one person quit, because the job required too much heavy lifting for her. Everyone else has stayed due to the appreciative feedback, motivation, and importance of their job (which I have communicated with them daily).
