About Andy Harber

For 36 years Andy Harber has successfully led development activities for Boeing. Currently, he is a senior project engineer for the Boeing Defense System, Design Center South and often supports efforts in the Boeing Research & Technology business. His focus is on strategic planning and tactical transition of new technologies into successful production programs. Andy’s diverse background spreads across all technical areas of aircraft development; structure, systems, avionics, software, supplier management, manufacturing & infrastructure. Aircraft in Andy’s background include the A-4 Skyhawk, T-45, MD-80 Series, DC/KC-10, C-17, F-15, 767 International and KC-46 Tanker. He is currently leveraging his deep aerial refueling knowledge to assist in strategic planning for next generation mobility & tanker solutions. Andy has demonstrated a strong history of leading technical teams simultaneously at multiple geographic locations. Having recently relocated from California to Alabama, Andy is expanding his influence to work with universities in the area on technology and workforce development. His aerospace career began in the Engineering Test & Evaluation labs where he became senior manager for all ground test operations. He built a team of 200 technicians and personnel during the C-17’s development and qualification into service. Andy went on to bring several world’s first technologies into production service through integrated transition plans. Since the early 1990’s Andy has vigorously led activities promoting a revolutionary configuration of mobility aircraft, the Blended Wing Body (BWB). He has hopes of helping to start the BWB into development before retirement. Andy earned a bachelor of arts in organizational management and is a private pilot. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda, and they have two children and four grandchildren.
