About Andy Napper

With 25 years of dedicated service in Dorset Police, I have built extensive expertise in specialist operations, specifically counter-terrorism, major crime, and missing person search. As the Force Counter-Terrorism Search Coordinator (PolSC), I lead Dorset Police’s specialist search capability, ensuring operational effectiveness in complex search deployments. Additionally, as the South West Regional Tactical Lead for Search, I collaborate closely with the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) and the Police National Search Centre (PNSC), contributing to strategic national projects and governance. My experience includes planning and managing large-scale counter-terrorism defensive searches for members of the Royal Family, including Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Majesty King Charles as well as VIPs under the protection of RaSP. I have also played a key role in major and complex crime investigations, providing strategic search advice to senior commanders and SIOs and leading search operations to support critical investigations. Throughout my policing career, I have served in various specialist roles, including the Tactical Firearms Unit, Public Order Serial Commander, CBRN Responder, and Response & Neighbourhood Policing. These experiences have strengthened my ability to operate in high-risk environments, lead specialist teams, and deliver operational success at both regional and national levels. I am committed to enhancing specialist search capabilities and contributing to the continuous development of policing strategies that support national security and public safety.
