About Andy Oakley

Andy has been at the lab since 2020 and recently joined the National Security Directorate (NSD) as a Security Operations Specialist. His prior experience as a Physical Security Professional included a focus in providing technical and administrative direction in the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of physical security systems, including barriers, detection devices, security alarms, and access controls. His duties included, but were not limited to: Monitoring and overseeing security system and performance tests, including electronic access control, alarms, intrusion detection and campus camera systems. He also assisted in administering access control to PNNL’s major facilities through the proximity system and other access control devices; to include management of access control systems that have been implemented to make certain that access is afforded in accordance with applicable DOE Orders and local directives. Conduct analysis and interpretation of DOE orders to develop program policies and procedures; generate test, implementation plans, and reports associated with the associated programs. He has prior experience as an SAS Technical Coordinator in Classified Visits and Clearance Processing, which included providing technical and administrative direction, processing activities and customer support to the Laboratory in a variety of topics including Control of Classified Visits and Security Clearance/Access Authorization programs, in accordance with DOE and PNNL requirements. In this position, duties included serving as the primary point of contact for all classified visit processing, tracking leave of absences for security clearance holders and facilitating security clearance/access authorization termination actions. His ability to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task, is demonstrated in the review of classified visit requests. He is customer service oriented and has a proficiency in using a number of different programs, including Microsoft and Adobe Creative Suite Software. His proficiency gives him the opportunity to create time-saving and productivity-enhancing processes and documents.
