About Andy Potemski

40 years of industry experience in product design and in professional services. My journey began at Kodak in Rochester NY in June 1980 working as a Research Lab Technician. In 1981, I transitioned to IBM Instruments Incorporated in Danbury CT to design laboratory computer systems. The next transition was to main stream IBM to design clock synchronization chips for mainframe computers and graphics chips for workstations. In 1995 I joined Synopsys in Austin Texas to be part of an emerging professional services team, delivering consulting and managing programs across a large customer base. In 2005, the focus shifted to design flow management and Synopsys product development. Currently responsible for a global team of 30 people focused on Design Automation Systems and Design Data Analytics that accelerates design team productivity. R&D teams are located in sites across the US and India. My current responsibility is Group Director for both product R&D and product Application Engineering of the Lynx Design System and the next evolution of that system. The Lynx Design System enables enhanced designer productivity through innovative flow automation in the Runtime Manager, simplified results analysis in the Design Tracker and flow flexibility to accommodate any tool flow. Lynx was Introduced to the market in 2009 and has achieved excellent customer adoption. Lynx is in use world-wide and is helping customers achieve product goals, on schedule, across a broad range of chip design technologies and disciplines. Specialties: Electronic Design Automation.
