About Andy Renz

I’m a big believer in helping those in need. My drive to aid took me around the world. Along with a few friends, I founded a non-profit in Uganda, centered on providing locals with jobs and clean sustainable lighting. I was ingrained in every company process. I was elbows deep in roles such as: running financial forecasts to determine pricing models and payment structures, performing sales, hiring and managing employees, dealing with swindling lawyers, and the interesting processes of the URA (Ugandan IRS equivalent). While priceless in terms of the experience gained, the knowledge pales in comparison to connecting individuals with income opportunity and sustainable lighting. After that adventure, I moved down to Guatemala. I filled the role of math curriculum developer and Math/English teacher to 180 high school students. I didn’t speak Spanish upon arrival. I developed a custom Khan Academy math implementation specifically tailored for their needs after high school. I also created a template of optimal teaching strategies for the other instructors there. Those students are the greatest people I’ve known. They were the most open and honest individuals, looking to connect with anyone in reach. I admire their work ethic (they ran the school as well) and their love for one another. When chores and homework were out of the way, they would dance for hours into the night or play soccer by the river. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to know them and form a positive aspect of their lives. There's no doubt they're a massive part of my life. I adored my position as a Rock Climbing Supervisor. Apart from being around a sport I love constantly, I got to help hundreds of kids open up to experiences and to others, granting them confidence along the way. As a Direct Service Provider, I could connect with, and most importantly, empower individuals that society has written off. I love giving people the tools to grow in their lives and feel strong.
