About Andy Thomson

I have over 30 years’ experience as a designer and Chartered Landscape Architect, during which time I have designed and delivered a series of celebrated public Landscape Architectural and urban design projects. Most recently I have been the Landscape Architectural lead on Peel’s multi-phased Wirral Waters Dockland development, including the RIBA National Award winning Wirral Metropolitan College. I joined BCA Landscape in 1993, became an Associate in and then a Director of the company in July 2008. I live with my family in Liverpool and for the past 20 years have continued my passion for lifetime learning as a visiting Lecturer and Guest Critic at Leeds Metropolitan University, the Liverpool University School of Architecture & the Manchester Metropolitan University’s School of Landscape & Architecture. Widely regarded as a creative innovator in community engagement and social inclusion, my collaborative ‘Face of Liverpool’ scheme gained ‘The Best National Community Project & President’s Grand Prix Award’. Recent work with the Rotunda Community College in North Liverpool has won the Landscape Institute's top design award and the NW top Echo Environment Award for helping to create a new thriving community landscape on an area of derelict land. I have been directly involved in designing and delivering numerous environmentally conscious and sustainable projects, including the current multi-million pound Liverpool waterfront works on-site. I am also a selected panel member on the CABE affiliated Places Matter! Design Review panel for RIBA North.
