About Andy van Drom

Professionally as well as personally, I am driven by the firm belief that when we study language, we also gain insight in what makes us human. Education is all about sparking such learning as a lifelong process- As a language teaching professional with over 15 years of experience, I am unconditionally committed to my students’ success. Recipient of the EF Excellence in Language Teaching Award, I seek to support my students' academic, emotional and professional growth by leveraging my expertise and by fostering an inclusive environment that empowers everyone to explore, learn, grow, and excel on their journey of self-development. Student Workbook (Thomson/Nelson, 2009) As a specialist in college pedagogy, I support the development of pedagogical uses of technology and enhance teaching expertise and practices in higher education. Through publications, workshops and exploration projects, I help college staff innovate in their teaching, deepen their skills, and develop inclusive, engaging, digital pedagogical practices that foster student motivation and success. Finally, as a linguist, my interdisciplinary research focuses on the discursive construction and expression of identities. I turn my expertise in discourse analysis and linguistics into accessible and usable tools that improve the effectiveness of people and organizations by changing the ways in which they use and conceptualize language.
