About Andy Wasif

With a background in stand-up and sketch comedy, I have settled into a groove as a writer. So far, my trilogy on the sports rivalry between Boston fans and New York fans included "How to Talk to a Yankee Fan"(Seven Locks Press),"Red Sox University"(Triumph Books), and culminated in the bestselling (Boston Globe, 4/22/12)"Red Sox Fans are From Mars, Yankees Fans are From Uranus"(Triumph Books). I've also been featured in "Red Sox and Philosophy"(Open Court Press). My sports blog, consisting of celebrity features and humorous commentary,"Wasif's World," was on Yahoo! Sports on-line magazine The PostGame for years. Other books include "Hollywood Primer: Everything You Need to Know Before Moving to Los Angeles," a humorous tutorial on the big transition; a book of personal (and embarrassing) essays entitled,"Will Beg for Dignity"; a collection of the best essays from "Wasif's World"-"Don't Talk Sports at the Dinner Table"; and "Adult Puberty," a faux-educational book for those entering middle age. My screenplay "The 70-Year Itch" about a couple who have been married for 50 years that move into an independent living facility and decide to get separated and play the field was optioned by Amazon Studios and is currently in development. You can also add script contest winner, public speaker (including the Authors@Google series and the Boston Book Festival), and guest lecturer to my resume. And in my "spare time," I do some acting as well. Specialties: puns, double entendres, triple entendres, hyperbole, alliteration, anachronisms, the Oxford comma, made-up words, tongue-in-cheek humor, and yoga.
