Andy Waterson | Acting Deputy Commissioner, Operational Training | Fire Rescue Victoria In my 24 years of firefighting and emergency management, I have dedicated my career to enhancing operational training, leadership, and strategic planning within Fire Rescue Victoria and the CFA. Currently serving as Acting Deputy Commissioner, Operational Training, I lead critical initiatives to develop and refine training programs that our training team empower responders with the skills and knowledge they need to protect communities. My previous roles include Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO) for Training Delivery and ACFO for Policy & Planning. Throughout my career, I have contributed to technical operations, particularly within the USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) department, and have worked to develop and implement training programs and instructors development across a range of emergency response disciplines. Committed to continuous learning and leadership excellence, I have earned a Graduate Certificate in Applied Management from the Australian Institute of Police Management and am currently pursuing a Graduate Diploma in Executive Leadership for Policing and Emergency Services. I have also completed the Singapore Civil Defence Force Senior Executive Programme in Disaster Management, further strengthening my expertise in crisis response and strategic emergency management. Passionate about fostering innovation in emergency training and operational readiness, I am dedicated to ensuring that emergency services personnel are prepared to meet evolving challenges with confidence and capability.
