About Aneesh Kumar K.

I'm an active contributor to the Linux kernel with experience in Memory Management, File Systems, and Virtualization. Over the years, I’ve worked across several subsystems, helping improve core kernel infrastructure and support for evolving hardware platforms. In the Ext4 file system, I implemented the multiblock allocator, added delayed allocation support, and worked on introducing RichACLs. I also contributed extensively to the VirtFS pass-through file system in the Linux kernel and its QEMU-based backend. On the PowerPC architecture, my contributions include support for 64TB address spaces, Transparent Huge Pages, automatic NUMA balancing, and enabling the POWER9 Radix MMU mode. I was one of the top contributors to the Linux 4.7 kernel release (https://lwn.net/Articles/695993/). I’ve also worked on enabling disaggregated systems using the Linux kernel, including support for persistent memory and memory tiering. Currently, I’m part of the ARM Linux kernel team, focusing on KVM and Confidential Computing Architecture (CCA). I’m working on secure device assignment for confidential guests to support secure virtualization in cloud and edge environments.
