About Angel Levac

I am Angel Levac, a proud Něhiyawiskwěw (Cree Woman) with roots in Treaty 5 Territory, raised in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, Ontario. I am a Visual Studies student at the University of Toronto’s Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design. My journey is deeply rooted in advocating for Indigenous youth, art, knowledge systems, and climate justice while navigating the challenges of identity, racism, and urban life with resilience and determination. I am the curator of the Youth Leadership Zine at Indigenous Climate Action, a national platform amplifying Indigenous youth voices through art, writing, and storytelling. Recently, I curated a full-scale exhibition at Hart House, University of Toronto, showcasing Indigenous artists and fostering community engagement. I have also been developing the first Indigenous Students Coalition at Daniels to increase Indigenous visibility and representation. As an artist, activist, and aspiring museum curator, my long-term vision is to establish an international Indigenous art museum that celebrates Indigenous art history, education, and activism. This space will honour the legacy of those who paved the way while empowering future generations through storytelling, cultural integration, and Indigenous joy. With a passion for community building, screenprinting, and mentorship, I am committed to breaking barriers and creating opportunities for Indigenous youth. Together, we can build a stronger future for the next seven generations.
