Alongside these roles, she was a Senior Professional Tutor with the West Essex SCITT for nine years having previously, as a class teacher, mentored trainee teachers and nursery nurses. She provided initial teacher training for maths, Growth Mindsets, metacognition and self-regulated learning, Supporting the Attainment of Disadvantaged learners and she supported the Action Research assignments. She has a wealth of experience as a training facilitator for both Early Career and experienced teachers. Her specialist subject is Maths. She has a Maths degree from the University of Manchester. She has a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the teaching and learning of maths from EYFS to KS5. She was involved in the international project “Improving Primary Mathematics” and visited Swiss schools as part of the research. She is especially interested in finding out what leads to successful maths learning, how best to prepare teachers (through ITT and CPD), and in how to remove learners' negative mindsets and anxiety about maths.
